Position Title: Family Support Worker

Location: Dublin Mid-West – Clondalkin, Ronanstown and Lucan

Agency/Programme: Crosscare – Family Support Service

Work Schedule: 37.5 hrs

Contract: 1 Year contract with extension subject to funding

Salary: DYS Point 1 – €34,513

Reports to: Team Leader Family Support Service

Role Purpose: To provide focused family intervention support to parents refereed by Tusla or the Youth Service, providing supports that helps improve parenting capacity.

The Role: Delivering a family support service

  • Provide one to one support sessions in the service and through home visits
  • Planning creative and innovative responses to family’s needs to address specific issues
  • Facilitate Peer Support Parents support groups incorporating Parenting and Personal Development.
  • Assessment and development of a case plan with the family in relation to the level and nature of support required to be reviewed and evaluated on a regular basis.
  • Family Support Worker to meet regularly with youth workers, youth justice workers , social workers and social care workers to discuss issues arising and explore or be familiarised with the responses/wrap around services being delivered to all family members.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills are essential for this post
  • Maintain confidentiality always in line with policy.
  • Reporting child safeguarding concerns in line with Crosscare’s Child Safeguarding Policy.
  • To work within the ethos and values of Crosscare/ To implement the Crosscare strategy.

The Holder

Qualification/Skills Requirements

  • A recognised relevant third level qualification in Youth Work, Social Studies, Social Care, Addiction or equivalent is desirable
  • A minimum of at least 2 years’ experience working with individuals/ families, women’s groups, parent’s groups and/or community development work is essential
  • Full clean driving licence is desirable

  • Teamwork / Organisational Skills /Excellent time management / Record keeping and report writing skills
