Job Title: Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager

Salary: £44,000

Working Pattern: Full-Time, 35 hours a week

Reports to: Head of Partnerships

As a Philanthropy Manager, you will play a vital role within our Fundraising and Engagement Group, leading our efforts to unlock income and raise Lumos’s profile. Collaborating with our Partnerships Team, you will cultivate relationships with existing and prospective donors to secure major gifts. Your work will directly contribute to redirecting philanthropic capital away from orphanages and institutions towards global care reform.

Key Objectives

  • Income Generation: Develop and implement a targeted major giving strategy, engaging new philanthropists, and maximizing networks of existing major donors.
  • Relationship Management and Stewardship: Build strong relationships with donors, execute tailored cultivation plans, and deliver exceptional stewardship through various communication channels.
  • Collaboration and Networking: Engage internal stakeholders, senior managers, and Lumos Trustees to support philanthropic efforts and peer-to-peer funding opportunities.
  • Reporting and Record-Keeping: Utilize Salesforce database to maintain accurate records, monitor prospecting activity, and contribute to reporting against targets.

JOB PURPOSE

The Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager works in the Fundraising and Engagement Group, making a vital contribution to our objective to bring about transformative change for children by unlocking income and raising the profile of Lumos. Within the Group, the role sits in our Partnerships Team, an ambitious, high-growth team overseeing income generation from: Trusts and Foundations, Philanthropists and Corporate supporters. The team is set to raise over £1.4 million this year and has ambitions to grow this further in future years.

As Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager you will identify, cultivate, secure and steward major gifts from existing and prospective donors who can support Lumos at the five and six figure level. In your role you will build and foster positive relationships with philanthropic donors and grant-making organisations, providing excellent stewardship and account management. As an experienced philanthropy professional, you will also work collaboratively with colleagues to support the redirection of philanthropic capital away from orphanages and institutions and towards global care reform.

You will work with the Head of Partnerships, Director of Global Fundraising and Engagement and CEO to involve relevant internal stakeholders to effectively cultivate prospective partners, and to support existing partnerships. This will include working with senior managers and Lumos Trustees. You will also work closely with the Trusts and Foundations Manager and Senior Manager, Funding Impact Communications to prioritise and progress opportunities.

About You

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • Excellent understanding of complex relationship-based fundraising from high-net worth individuals
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to engage internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding financial targets and soliciting major gifts
  • Experience in relationship management, proposal development, and reporting for major donors
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a heavy workload
