National Trust

Summary

  • INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY PLEASE***
  • Internal Applicants only

Our colleagues work for the National Trust in many locations and sometimes don’t have easy access to internal vacancy listings. Using the internet ensures we can reach as many of our colleagues as possible. We appreciate that this can be frustrating for external talent. Do note that some roles are released externally after an initial period of time.

Do you enjoy being part of a team with a cause? Do you want to help care for important historic buildings and estates? We’re looking for a Facilities Co-ordinator with the skills and experience to help the South Lakes team keep properties and countryside locations in tiptop condition and running smoothly for all the people who visit and love the places we look after.

The Facilities Team are at the heart of this activity. Maintaining public access areas, ensuring our historic properties are sensitively repaired and implementing the highest level of statutory and internal compliance levels are just some of our day to day challenges. Add to this the need to ensure our systems and data are kept up to date to support our proactive plans and collaborating with colleagues to schedule and forecast activities and it’s clear this role offers real opportunities to develop operational knowledge of property and estate management.

What it’s like to work here

We work in an ever changing environment looking after a breadth of properties – from historic houses to countryside parks and steam boats. Most adverts say no two days are the same but we say the opposite – EVERY day provides challenges, situations that need problem solving skills and a requirements to balance priorities and tasks.

Our Facilities Team is the ‘hub’ for internal enquiries and requests for assistance so we view ourselves as an internal service department – there to support, guide and lend a hand to the Visitor Facing and Collections Teams. We work closely with our colleagues and supply chain – as well as the wider National Trust functions – and move seamlessly between dealing with a leaking tap, checking our compliance levels and developing projects to address long term plans.

Three words to describe what it’s like to work here? Busy, Varied and Rewarding.

What you’ll be doing

The Facilities Co-ordinator role works with the Facilities Manager and wider team to ensure we run an efficient, effective and flexible facilities service. You’ll help the property team to meet their goals by keeping standards high. You’ll be helping with maintenance and repairs (reactive, as well as planned and preventative), cleaning and caretaking, the presentation of public areas and visitor facilities (including car parks and grounds), preparing meeting rooms and co-ordinating deliveries and collections.

Specific to this role will be the requirement to act as our Compliance ‘champion’ – taking responsibility for monitoring, managing and coordinating compliance tasks through effective use of our Vantage system and scheduling tools. You’ll collaborate with colleagues to ensure they understand their responsibilities and identify areas where further support is required. A large requirement of our compliance effort is to introduce and install Operating Standards that are consistent and in line with best practice.

It is anticipated this role will assume deputising responsibilities in the absence of the Facilities Manager and act as mentor, guide and leader to other members of the team.
