Salary: £10.78 per hour
Contract/duration: This role is a fixed term, annualised contract ending 28th February 2025. An annualised contract is where the amount of hours you work each month may vary with more hours worked through our peak season, however your salary will be paid in equal instalments over the year.
You will be expected to work weekends, school holidays, bank holidays and some evenings in this role.
What it’s like to work here
Reporting to the Welcome Manager, you’ll be part of the Visitor Welcome team, working at Knightshayes. The job is based between our two welcome areas, visitor reception and our house welcome role.
Over the past four years, the visitor experience at this grand gothic revival house has been transformed by introducing a year-round programme of events, activities and entertainment. The ambitious 40-member team has further plans to grow and develop Knightshayes’ visitor offer and welcome creative customer-focused people to join the team. The property has one of the finest gardens in Devon with a vast plant collection and walled garden which supplies produce to the estate’s Stables Café.

What you’ll be doing
As the largest conservation charity in Europe we work hard to raise funds, so that we can continue to care for all the heritage in our trust. Visitors are a vital part of what we do, so you’ll be responsible for ensuring that you provide an excellent service to all our visitors, every day.
Working in Visitor Reception, you are the first-person visitors will see at Knightshayes. As a Welcome & Service Assistant, it’s your role to ensure that the welcome our visitors receive is perfect, setting them up for an amazing experience for the rest of the day. You will be greeting all our visitors, checking National Trust membership cards, taking admission with cash and card payments, explaining what is on offer at Knightshayes, orientating people for their day and answering any queries.
As a representative of the National Trust you will promote the benefits of membership to our visitors, linking everything we do back to our cause and the on-going work we do.
