The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) is seeking a Senior Manager, Learning & Organizational Development. The Senior Manager, Learning & Organizational Development is responsible for developing and implementing learning solutions and identifying and executing strategies that support individual and organizational growth.
The Senior Manager plays a key role in strengthening a culture of learning and engagement while ensuring that all learning and organizational development activities are strategically aligned with our mission. A self-starter with the initiative and ability to work both autonomously and within a collaborative and matrixed environment, the Senior Manager is responsible for anticipating, identifying, implementing, and assessing organizational development solutions to increase the organization’s capacity for change and developing the capabilities and skills of staff.
The ideal candidate is an experienced human resources and organizational development professional who is deeply committed to IDSA’s core values and establishing equitable, inclusive, people-focused management and leadership practices. This candidate should also be skilled in implementing performance improvement, learning, engagement, and organizational development solutions in a growing fast-paced organization.
Must reside within 60 miles of IDSA Headquarters
Qualifications
Organizational Development:
- Provides strategic thought partnership and guidance to the T&OD team and organization at large in areas of skill building, employee engagement, change management, knowledge management, & organizational behavior and performance.
- Partners with appropriate staff to identify organizational change trends, impacts, and thresholds.
- Develops mechanisms to help stakeholders identify change needs related to organizational vision and strategy in support of desired outcomes.
- Collaborates with key leaders and staff to develop and monitor consistent and effective performance measurements across the organization.
- Develops and maintains processes and systems to support accountability among leadership and management teams as they navigate organizational growth.
- Develops, implements, and maintains associated process measurement evaluation criteria, and related strategies. Once implemented, manages the life cycle of knowledge management and knowledge capture processes.
- Develops and executes engagement programs that facilitate staff engagement in a hybrid environment. This includes survey delivery and action planning.
Learning & Development:
- Develops and executes employee learning & development strategy through program development, facilitation, and coaching. Activities include talent and competency assessments, competency mapping, training development, and coaching for improved instructional design.
- Works across the T&OD function annually to plan full year of L&D Activities in areas of Compliance, Performance Management, Leadership Development, IDA&E, Recruitment, Change Management, and Knowledge Management.
- Combines instructional design and delivery knowledge, industry best practice data, and business knowledge to create comprehensive, innovative learning solutions that drive behavioral change for employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ensures measurement and evaluation of learning and development activities. Administers and analyzes evaluative assessments; ensures analysis and reports; manages communications related to learning outcomes.
- Contributes to planning for related strategies such as succession planning
- Assesses where improvements may be made related to resourcing, vendor & tool utilization, content creation, and training delivery.
- Plans and executes Annual All-Staff Retreat in collaboration with Director, T&OD
- As needed, provides support to T&OD generalist portfolio, which includes talent operations, talent acquisition, orientation and onboarding development, employee relations, reporting, benefits administration, and policy development. Participates on committees, performs special projects, and other duties based on organizational needs.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Accountabilities:
- The Senior Manager, Learning & Organizational Development will ensure a strategic approach to Learning & Development activities and needs.
- The Senior Manager, Learning & Organizational Development will ensure that Organizational Development strategy and activities are developed and implemented on an ongoing basis.
- The Senior Manager, Learning & Organizational Development will effectively balance strategy and tactical activities.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of relevant experience. Experience can be substituted for degree.
- Progressive experience in learning & development, organizational development, and Human Resource roles.
- Demonstrated experience and success in developing trust across teams.

- Demonstrated expertise in learning and assessment design and demonstrated success in creating, implementing, and measuring sound processes for knowledge management, performance measures, learning and development lifecycle activities and engagement.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and high standards in exercising confidentiality and building trust.
- Sound critical thinker, with research, project, and process management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
- Excellent oral, written, organizational and technology skills with excellent attention to detail.
Additional Qualifications: (Such as certifications, industry-specific experience and the experience working with certain equipment)
- L&D and/or OD certificate a plus.
Travel Requirements: Must reside within 60 miles of IDSA Headquarters
- Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time and attend:
