Reporting Lines
The incumbent will support the immediate office of Director CSL (CSLD) in executing the divisional communication strategy and its associated activities and provide targeted support to the Facilities and Infrastructure team (CSLI), with a special emphasis on aiding the Corporate Environmental Responsibility (CER) team and their initiatives.
Technical Focus
The Communication Specialist will assist in further developing the outreach/communication strategy of the Division.
Tasks And Responsibilities
In close collaboration with OCC branches and focal points, the incumbent will:
Tasks And Responsibilities For CSLD
- Actively participate in the execution of the Division’s communication strategy;
- Collaboratively research and write content for various divisional initiatives;
- Assist in developing timely content for the CSL newsletter “intheLoop”, CSL website and social media;
- Help design captivating visuals for the CSL newsletter, CSL Intranet, and FAO Intranet;
- Collaborate with teams to identify and promote divisional success stories;
- Collaborate with the OCC to ensure content consistency and manage engagement opportunities;
- Use Typo 3 or HTML to upload and manage content on the website.
Tasks And Responsibilities For CSLI
- Actively engage in the communications of both CSLI and the CER team;
- Support data collection efforts for the greenhouse gas inventory, liaising with all country offices;
- Draft articles, reports, and newsletters on behalf of the CER team;
- Prepare PowerPoint presentations for either CSLI or CER as required;
- Design visuals for specific communication campaigns;
- Assist in conducting specific research in the areas of CER and CSLI.
- Liaison with the Office of Communication (OCC) will be maintained, either directly or through an agreed focal point/coordinator, to ensure compliance with OCC standards, appropriate review and clearance processes.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
- University degree in communication, advertising, marketing, journalism, social science or a related field (For COF.REG only)
- Relevant experience in communication, outreach, media relations, publications, digital, preferably within the UN system or relevant non-government or non-profit organizations
- Working knowledge of English, French or Spanish and limited knowledge of one of the other two or Arabic, Chinese, Russian.

Technical/Functional Skills
- Work experience in more than one location or area of work.
- Understanding of FAO policies and programmes is considered a strong asset; and familiarity with UN administrative, operational and financial procedures is an asset.
- Excellent news writing skills, copywriting for promotional materials and proven ability to popularize technical and scientific knowledge for various audiences.
- Extent and relevance of experience in understanding and implementing a communications strategy or plan, with particular emphasis on delivering outputs and creating impact among audiences and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of video production and social media content development is desirable
- Extent and relevance of experience in supporting organizing high-level events, conferences and webinars.
- Good communication skills, including during interaction with teams, partners and through e-mail and zoom.
- Demonstrated ability to work in multi-cultural and geographically dispersed teams, including through remote work.
