Summary Description

GPAC has partnered with a leading manufacturing company that is in immediate need of an Engineering Department Manager. This position manages the Engineering Department which is composed of project managers, project engineers, drafters and supervisor, quality control inspectors and supervisor. Provides overall direction of the drafting, engineering, and quality control functions. Must possess ability to communicate with all different sectors of the precast design and production areas.

Positions Reports to: General Manager

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead team to facilitate production of fabricated products to specification and organize and monitor workflows of respective departmental functions.
  • Accomplish departmental results by communication job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining team members; and initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies and procedures.
  • Assign Project Manager, Project Engineer and drafters for specific projects.
  • Builds relationships with clients, architects, engineers, owners and all others involved in the precast environment.
  • Helping estimating and sales as necessary to the bidding process.
  • Perform design and management for projects as needed.
  • Review contract documents, erection drawings and shop tickets.
  • Attend in-house and jobsite meetings for project coordination.
  • Job site visits as needed to review project progress.
  • Coordinate submittal and approval of architectural samples, shop drawings and miscellaneous items as needed for project completion.
  • Coordinate with plant and quality control personnel as needed for project completion.
  • Supervise and coordinate engineering and drafting personnel assigned to the project as needed for project completion.
  • Recruit, select, onboard, train and mentor team members.
  • Provide employee evaluations for promotion or discipline as needed. Hire/terminate employees as appropriate.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge, licenses and certifications.

Qualifications / Minimum Requirments

  • Thorough knowledge of precast concrete systems.
  • Ability to read construction documents and prepare and review erection drawings and shop tickets.
  • Strong computer, organization and communication skills. Ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Architectural/Structural Engineering is required. Registered professional engineer (PE) or ability to obtain registration within 2 years.
  • 6 years precast structural design work or project management experience.
  • 2 years leadership experience.
  • Fluently speak, read and write English.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Physical Qualifications

  • Arm, hand, and finger dexterity with both hands involved in activities such as reaching, handling, and feeling.
  • No less than 20-25 vision (before or after correction as needed).
  • Ability to hear audible safety alarms and other sounds (back-up alerts, severe weather sirens, etc.).
