Safeguarding Volunteer – Referral Mapping – Fully Remote

Mary’s Meals International is seeking expressions of interest from an experienced Safeguarding Volunteer to support Mary’s Meals to develop the Safe Response component of our Global Safeguarding Framework.

As our Safeguarding Volunteer, you will coordinate a discreet piece of work to understand and map external safeguarding referral pathways in five locations – Zambia, Malawi, Liberia, the UK, and Kenya. Using our Referral Mapping Assessment Template, you will work with our teams in these locations to increase our preparedness to respond to safeguarding incidents.

Key Activities:

• Engage with colleagues in Zambia, Malawi, Liberia, Kenya and the UK to understand context locally and programme footprint.
• Use desk-top research or existing contacts to map external support services and reporting requirements in each location.
• Populate our referral mapping assessment template with key information relating to the different services that a victim/survivor may need include: Medical services, Disability services, Children’s services, Mental health and psychosocial support services (MHPSS), Law enforcement agencies, Safety and security services.
• In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of sector safeguarding best practice.
• Willingness and ability to give your time to build capacity at Mary’s Meals
• Experience of working inclusively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Essential details:

• This work can be completed remotely from anywhere in the world. We ask that any training is completed during the GMT working day.
• We ask that volunteers are able to provide their own equipment including secure network connection to enable you to join remote meetings with colleagues in different locations across Africa and Europe.
• We anticipate that this work will take 2-3 days to complete and we are happy for volunteers to work at a pace that suits them providing the assignment is completed by the end of July 2023.
