The advertised position is with the Global Strategic Communications Council (GSCC) – a global network of communications professionals in the field of climate, energy and nature. GSCC is a collaborative project hosted by the ECF.
Through our work, we aim to contribute to a world with a safe and stable climate for current and future generations. We hope to build broad support for just, inclusive, and equitable solutions to the climate crisis.
Our philanthropically funded work focuses on media debate and public discourse at the global level and in major economies across Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia and the Americas. We support a diverse range of partners across sectors and geographies, helping them add their voices, views and insights to the conversation.
Position
We are looking for a talented digital all-rounder with experience in digital communications to help us and our partners reach key audiences with relevant information in a timely way. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to enhance and share their digital skills to contribute to tackling one of the defining issues of our time within an impact-driven, skilled, and fun global team.
As Junior Digital Associate, you would be part of the Oil & Gas team and report to the Senior Digital Associate. GSCC’s Oil & Gas team aims to create more political space for action to phase out fossil fuels and highlight the wider environmental impacts of oil and gas.
This role would work as part of a global network of communications experts to enhance the public debate on climate change and its solutions more broadly.
Key responsibilities
- Helping colleagues from the Oil & Gas team to design, implement and report on digital campaigns:
- Setting up ads on social media platforms (especially Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter) and search engines (especially Google).
- Contributing to developing strategies for small to medium scale digital campaigns.
- Writing copy for ads, graphics, videos and websites.
- Creating social media content using Canva and Lumen5.
- Producing regular reports.
- Completing research tasks (such as social listening and media monitoring analysis).
- Administrative tasks (such as reconciling invoices, managing inboxes, meeting coordination, agenda setting, note taking, maintaining libraries and databases).
Requirements
- Demonstrated professional experience in digital marketing or digital campaigning.
- Experience running social media campaigns and channels on behalf of an organisation.
- A familiarity with digital metrics and how to judge whether a campaign or piece of content has been successful or not.
- An eye for design, and familiarity with content creation tools like Canva.
- The passion and creativity required to experiment constantly.
- Great English language skills, both written and verbal.
- A genuine interest in the mission and values of ECF, and a commitment to an inclusive and empowering approach to facing climate change.
- The ability to work and learn quickly, both independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced, international environment.
- The disposition to work with colleagues in a high-trust global community of peers.
- Some experience with a wide variety of digital outreach techniques, such as paid ads, web design or newsletters.
