Laborer

Working under the supervision of the Lead Hand, the Junior Labourer will assist the Expercom Civil Team with the installation of telecommunications infrastructure (buried cable, wire or ducts) for various projects.

Responsibilities
Digging holes and trenches
Pulling cable
Operating equipment and tools
Provide assistance with general site preparation and clean-up as directed
Handle and distribute construction materials, as well as safely loading and unloading vehicles with supplies and equipment as directed
Able to run gas and power equipment (i.e. saws, drills, jumping jacks)
Able to assess work environment for potential health and safety hazards
Removal of all debris from work sites
Assist with traffic control as directed
Other duties as required

Qualifications
High school diploma or relevant experience
+ 6 months of related experience in the construction industry
Good verbal communication skills and able to work with others
Must be able to safely lift 23 kg (50 lbs)
Must be able to speak, read and write in English
Demonstrated commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable health and safety training as per legislative and job requirements
Ability to follow instructions
Must be able to work in restricted and tight spaces and at heights
Must have a valid G Driver’s License or equivalent with a clean driver’s abstract
Must be able to provide a clear criminal record check
